After teaching political science at a University level for decades, Gary moved from teaching and talking big, systemic issues – to making a difference to one person at a time (to be fair, he made individual impacts on his students, too!). There are big problems to solve, and there are little problems to solve. Either way, the desire to want to help and effect change, large scale or small scale, is something holy – it’s hope. *We recorded this episode with Gary a very short time before he and his wife Lisa tragically lost their daughter, Ripley. A link to our episode from season 1 with Lisa is in our show notes. We acknowledge the depth of the word hope in our remembrance of Ripley.

Welcome to Ridgewood!
As a progressive congregation, we believe that the God who created the universe, as told through the poetry of Genesis, created human beings out of a place of Love. As scripture tells us in 1 John 4:8, "God is Love." This is our starting point as individuals, a community, and a world.
In other words, all of God's creatures and all God's people are wonderfully and fearfully made, reflecting the diverse and eccentric Image of God - individually and collectively. No race, gender, or sexuality stands superior to another.
